The H2020 WaterLANDS project, which involves 32 partners in 14 countries contributing to wetland restoration across Europe, held its first in-person Consortium Meeting last week from 4th-6th May 2022 in Dublin, Ireland.

The Consortium Meeting, hosted by University College Dublin, involved two days of brainstorming sessions, activities and discussions dedicated to co-creating best practice methods for on-the-ground restoration. The final day of the conference saw our partners visit Abbeyleix Bog in Co. Laois and the Wicklow Mountains National Park Pilot Restoration Project.

After months of online sessions, it was inspiring and rejuvenating to finally meet and work together in Dublin, allowing the partners to forge stronger connections, plan work package tasks, and share their knowledge. The site visits demonstrated how restoration can be achieved through effective community engagement and collaboration between both the public and private spheres.
