Siikaneva Fen and Bog is the largest continuous wetland area and the most significant wetlands conservation area in the Tampere region of Finland. Siikaneva is part of the Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS), managed by the University of Eastern Finland. Siikaneva is an important stopping point for migrating birds, particularly during the spring. Many species stop there that nest only in the north. Large birds such as cranes, swans and geese migrate in April and May, providing an impressive spectacle.
