The wetlands around Warsaw are important fen peatlands which are managed by the Wetlands Conservation Center (CMok). CMok is one of the leading national NGOs in the field of wetland conservation and ecological restoration and is also involved in processes at the social and policy interface of wetland restoration. CMok has substantial experience in managing large EU and EEA co-funded projects in cooperation with local and international partners. Staff are also involved in scientific research in topics such as peatland ecology and biodiversity, ecological restoration and soil/ carbon dynamics) CMok will work within the wetlands around Warsaw to share existing knowledge from previous projects on the benefits of wetland restoration and to generate new knowledge about the social, governance and financial restraints on wetland restoration.
