The Irish Peatlands Conservation Council (IPCC) will celebrate National Heritage Week by hosting a series of engaging events for communities at Irish peatlands.

National Heritage Week, an initiative by the Heritage Council, runs from Saurday, August 13 to Sunday, August 21 and highlights Irelands's built, natural and cultural heritage.

Paula Farrell, IPCC’s Conservation and Education Officer said

"Heritage Week is an incredibly important event which IPCC takes part in annually to link with locals and members of the public interested in peatlands. It is a time where we focus on peatland heritage, species and we raise awareness through engaging events and activities. Be sure to join one of our many events this year."

The planned events include a guided walk with an artist at Lodge Bog, Co. Kildare and a family-friendly educational walk at Girley Bog, Co. Meath. There will also be a Day of Action for native butterflies at Lullymore West.
