On September 23, WaterLANDS Co-Coordinator Dr. Shane Mc Guinness celebrated the beauty and importance of peatlands on Irish national television with RTE, who streamed live from Lough Boora in County Offaly for an evening of music, dance, theatre and spoken word to celebrate Ireland's Culture Night.
"Bogs are superheroes in the fight against climate change, and bringing our emissions down nationally," Shane said, as he opened Part 3 of the episode in the Lough Boora Discovery Park.
Back in the studio, Shane discussed the magic of the bog and the amazing plants and animals that make up "Ireland's own Serengeti", including Sphagnum moss and carnivorous plants.
Also featured on the episode were musical performances from Damien Dempsey, Martin Hayes, Ailbhe Reddy and many more.
