Deliverable 6.3 - Ecological and Scalability Plans and Taskforces
This report was developed by University College Dublin and Wageningen University and responds to Deliverable 6.3 of the WaterLANDS Grant Agreement: “Ecological and scalability plan for restoration at each Action Site”.
The objective of this report is to provide both a summary of restoration plans and of progress in the six WaterLANDS wetland restoration Action Sites.
WaterLANDS has six Action Sites (AS) across Europe. These include the restoration of blanket peat bogs (Ireland and England), forest mire (Estonia), karst wetland (Bulgaria) and saltmarsh and coastal habitat (Netherlands and Italy). Restoration work in each of these AS will require site specific methods and the context can also be expected to vary considerably. However, there are many common aspects to these restoration methods and much common guidance which is being provided by the WaterLANDS Work Packages (WP), specifically with regard to ecological restoration, monitoring, stakeholder engagement, governance and finance.
