Publication: Charge towards green finance ignores risks of nature commodification
The article, 'Charge towards green finance ignores risks of nature commodification: Evidence from the UK's climate and nature recovery policy landscape' was published in People and Nature by the British Ecological Society.
Conducted by Professor Julia Martin-Ortega, Dr Ruth Bookbinder, and Dr Joshua Cohen, and funded by WaterLANDS, the research provides an analysis of the UK's Green Finance Strategy and found that within the increased push for green finance instruments to fund nature recovery, there is little attention being paid to the risks posed by nature commodification. Through document analysis, they found that the strategies overwhelmingly frame risks in relation to impacts upon markets and investors, and not our relationship to nature.
